A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles

El álbum A Hard Day's Night fue lanzado el 10 de julio de 1964 por el estudio discográfico Parlophone. Fue el tercer álbum de estudio grabado por The Beatles.

Alcanzó la posición uno y desbancó al anterior LP del grupo, With the Beatles, y permaneciendo en ese puesto durante veintiún semanas de las treinta y ocho que se mantuvo en lista.

Algo más de siete meses bastaron para componer las trece canciones del album A Hard Day’s Night, el mismo, mantuvo la estructura de canciones e instrumentación del rock and roll básico y mostraba el desarrollo de los talentos de los compositores del grupo. Este Album fue el primer disco de The Beatles en contener solo composiciones originales y enteramente compuestas por Lennon-McCartney.

Lo normal era que en la confección de cada álbum de The Beatles, Paul McCartney y John Lennon contribuyeran en partes iguales con sus canciones, pero en el disco A Hard Day's Night de trece canciones, la autoría en la composición de los temas fue en su mayoria de Lennon.

Se puede decir que este disco y la película homónima subió definitivamente a The Beatles a lo mas alto, la fiebre por el grupo habia comenzado a ambos lados del Atlántico.

A Hard Day’s Night tiene uno de las aperturas más reconocibles en la historia de la música, con la canción que da título al álbum y que abre con ese acorde tan absolutamente inolvidable. Después de grabar las cinco canciones ‘A Hard Day’s Night‘ se convirtió en el tema emblema del disco al ser incluída como tema principal de la película.

El álbum contiene algunas de las canciones de The Beatles más famosas, incluido el tema que le da nombre al disco y "Can't Buy Me Love", estos dos temas fueron número 1 a ambos lados del Atlántico. El álbum retrataba perfectamente la clásica imagen del grupo, tal como se les veía en la cúspide de la Beatlemanía.

La mayor parte de las canciones del álbum Please Please Me fueron cantadas por John Lennon y Paul McCartney, siendo algunos temas interpretados a duo o como solista, George Harrison participa en los coros y su voz también esta en dos canciones, mientras que Ringo Starr solo interpreta una canción.

- Un nuevo recopilado en forma de doble CD y LP de The Beatles salió hoy al mercado con actuaciones inéditas que el cuarteto de Liverpool grabó en directo para la cadena británica BBC en los 60.

"On Air - Live At The BBC Volume 2", cuenta con un total de 63 temas y sale en formato doble CD y vinilo, acompañado de un libro de 48 paginas.

El álbum incluye 37 actuaciones de The Beatles con algunos de sus primeros éxitos y canciones versionadas nunca emitidas hasta ahora, además de 23 grabaciones con conversaciones y bromas entre los miembros de la banda, grabadas entre 1963 y 1964.

Diez de las canciones de este "On Air" no fueron nunca grabadas por el grupo para la discográfica EMI en la década de los 60, y dos de esos temas nunca llegaron a ser registrados por su sello, una versión de "Beautiful Dreamer" y el tema "I'm Talking About You", de Chuck Berry.

Este segundo álbum secunda al que se publicó en 1994 "On Air -Live At the BBC", que alcanzó el número uno de ventas en el Reino Unido.

El nuevo doble recopilatorio también recoge diferentes versiones de seis rarezas incluidas en el disco de 1994 como "Lucille" de Little Richard, "Memphis, Tennessee" de Chuck Berry, "The Hippy Hippy Shake" de Chan Romero, "I Got a Woman" de Ray Charles y dos temas de Carl Perkins, "Glad All Over" y "Sure To Fall".

Otra de las sorpresas de este nuevo lanzamiento es el tributo de la banda al programa de música pop de la cadena británica BBC más importante de comienzos de los 60: "Happy Birthday, Dear Saturday Club".

"On Air" incluye además grabaciones de la BBC de 30 canciones de los temas más queridos del catálogo de The Beatles, entre ellos cinco números uno y canciones como "I Saw Her Standing There", "Please Mister Postman" o "And I Love Her".

Al igual que el primer álbum doble de 1994, este lanzamiento contiene audio del legendario grupo de Liverpool hablando con los Djs Brian Matthew y Alan Freeman y con los locutores Lee Peters y Rodney Burke.

The Beatles -Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr y George Harrison- tocaron un gran abanico de canciones en las 275 actuaciones que dieron en la cadena BBC entre marzo de 1962 y junio de 1965.

Solo en el año 1963, estuvieron en antena en 39 programas de radio y en un solo día llegaron a grabar 18 canciones en una sesión de menos de siete horas, en la que había poco margen para corregir errores.
